Dehradun, February 4, 2018: The 2nd Indo-Nepal Tourism Festival and Trade Fair has begun from 2 February 2018 at the Parade Ground in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. The event organized by Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI),  in coalition with Ministry of Commerce, and Trade and Export Promotion Centre is set to run until 8 February, 2018.

The expo consists of more than 150 stalls including various handicraft products, readymade clothes, products used on a daily basis, religious and cultural products, leather goods and Nepali food stalls that represent the identity of both Nepal and India. The expo will also be hosting cultural activities and programs to promote tourism in both Nepal and India.

The fair aims to introduce an export mechanism of quality goods between Nepal and India. These goods will help to promote Nepali products and services, endorse goods produced by domestic, small and medium scale industries, advertise Nepal’s tourist destinations, hotels and resorts and spread words for packages of tours and travels.

Initiating the formal opening of the fair, Tribendra Singh Raut, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand asserted that Uttarakhand was ready to establish tourism and trade relations between India and Nepal.

Janga Bahadur Malla, the Senior Vice-President of the KCCI, said that the exhibit has more than 50 free stalls which feature different varieties of food items, handicrafts, medicinal herbs, agricultural products.

Bhawani Rana, the FNCCI President stated that events like Indo-Nepal Tourism Festival and Trade Fair help Nepali products gain a trade market. Nar Bahadur Chand, State Minister of Commerce, expressed his belief that the festival would benefit both the nations.

“The fair will help inform the public about Nepali products and services to create a platform for potential investors, manufacturers, distributors, and exporters,” added Madhav Prasad Joshi, vice-president of KCCI.

KCCI believes that the fair will reduce the trade deficiency of more than 66 percent between Nepal and India. It will create a platform for meeting between local business persons from Dehradun and Nepali entrepreneurs which will help to materialize the agreement and give continuity to bilateral trade.

The organizer is expecting more than 100,000 visitors and strong sales of Nepali products. KCCI aims to organize Indo-Nepal Trade Fair and Tourism Festival every year in different cities of India.
