Second Forum of India – Pacific Islands Cooperation Summit will be held in Jaipur

15 August, 2015: On August 21 India is going to host the second forum of India- Pacific Island Cooperation Summit which will be held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Different heads from 14 different islands nation from Indo – Pacific Oceanic region will attend the forum.

The Pacific Islands Forum which is a governmental organization aims to enhance cooperation between different countries which comes under Pacific Ocean region. This forum was founded in 1971. The first meeting was attended by PM Narendra Modi earlier in Suva, Fiji 2014 where he announced many policies and also demanded to have summits on this kind of forum regularly, so that participating countries can tie up with each other more.

On 18 and19 August all the delegations will arrive. There will be a ceremonial welcome which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 20th August attended by all the delegations with President Pranab Mukherjee. It will also include Prime minister, Vice president and External Affair Minister. Different agreements between India and these nations on various potential areas will take place on the forum.

The main purpose of this forum is to enhance development in different areas including climate change, space cooperation, and some other sectors which includes agriculture, fisheries, food processing, solar energy, e- networks for better coordination in tele- education and tele – medicine.
