Security tightened at border check points in Kanchanpur


Kanchanpur, 19 October 2014: The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, has tightened security at border check points not to allow import of firecrackers in the lead up to the upcoming Tihar and Chhath festivals.

Police tightened the security to stop the entry of firecrackers as different incidents including fire take place during Tihar festival due to haphazard firing of firecrackers.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abhinarayan Kafle, said that police units have been strictly directed to seize the firecrackers normally brought from India.

He added that they have published awareness-oriented pamphlets to make people aware about the causalities from the bursting of firecrackers.

Kafle said police personnel at different border check points including Tribhuvanbasti, Belauri, Dodhara, Chandani, Gaddachauki and Brahmadev areas are on alert to stop the import of firecrackers.

He further said that action would be taken against those found involved in bringing and selling firecrackers as well as bursting firecrackers.
