Sellers unveil offers to lure customers

Kathmandu, September 13, 2016: Sellers of vehicles, electronic products and mobile phone sets have started launching discount offers and schemes to give a boost to sales during the upcoming festivals of Dashain and Tihar.

Cash discounts, lucky draws, insurance schemes and tour packages are some of the attractions for would-be customers. Most of the retailers have already opened festival schemes while a number of others said they would be doing so soon. The schemes will last till the Chhath festival which falls in November.

Traders said that sales swell by more than 40 percent during the shopping spree that accompanies festivals.

Laxmi InterContinental, the authorised distributor of Hyundai cars in Nepal, is offering a cash discount of up to Rs600,000 on its vehicles. Another attraction is a lucky draw through which two lucky buyers of Hyundai cars can win Creta and Elite i20 cars. Also up for grabs are 100 tolas of gold for 100 people.

Rupesh Sharma Bhatta, assistant general manager of sales and marketing at Laxmi InterContinental, said a free one-year comprehensive insurance package would also be provided to buyers of Hyundai cars. “The package includes third-partyand vehicle insurance. Also, the company will pay the road tax for one year on the buyer’s behalf,” he said.

Sipradi Trading, authorised distributor of Tata vehicles for Nepal, is another auto retailer that is offering a cash discount of up to Rs50,000 to its customers.

It is also offering a two-wheeler and a Europe tour package on purchase of the Indica CR4, Zest, Bolt, Storme, Sumo Gold and e-Xeta. The company is also offering accessories worth Rs25,000 free of cost to buyers of any of its entire range of vehicles.

Similarly, dealers of two-wheelers have launched offers for the fast approaching festive season. Morang Auto Work (MAW), the distributor of Yamaha two-wheelers, is offering a cash discount of Rs8,000 and a round-trip to Japan to a customer every week.

Rupak Shrestha, MAW showroom manager in Kumaripati, Lalitpur, said theylaunched the month-long offer last week. MAW sells Yamaha two-wheelers, including the Ray Z, Ray ZR, R15, FZ-S and Saluto, among other models.

Similarly, Jagadamba Motors, theauthorised distributor of TVS two-wheelers, isoffering a cash discount of up to Rs10,000 on its products.

Consumers planning to buy mobile phone sets can also benefit from a number of schemes on purchase of different brands of cell phones. Call Mobility, theauthorised distributor of Huawei, launched a month-long offer last Friday.

Sanjay Basnet, branch manager of the Call Mobility showroom on New Road, said power banks would be offered to 100 customers and smartphones to 20 customers every week through a lucky draw.

Buyers of Huawei mobile sets can also win a Vista scooty or a Royal Enfield motorcycle through a lucky draw held every two weeks. “In addition, we are offering bicycles to four customers through a lucky draw,” Basnet said.

The Sharda Group, the importer of Xiaomi mobile phone sets, is offering gifts like Bluetooth-enabled speakers, power banks, headphones and gold and silver coins to customers who purchase Xiaomi phones.

CG Electronics has launched a cash back offer of up to 20 percenton purchase of refrigerators and LED televisions. Likewise, free sound bars, DVD players, iron sets and induction cookers, among others, are other attractions.

Purushottam Bhandari, sales manager of CG Electronics, said they would also be introducing sales promotion schemes forthe LG brand’s electronic products in a few days. According to him, therewill be offers on almost the entireLG product range.
