Seminar on Hydro-power Projects in Nepal Held at Embassy of Nepal in Beijing

Beijing, March 25, 2018:  To interact on facilitating Chinese investment in Nepal’s hydro-power sectors, a seminar on ‘Investment Opportunities in Hydropower Projects in Nepal’ was held at the Embassy of Nepal, Beijing on March 23, 2018.

The Seminar featured presentations on various aspects of hydro-electricity development in Nepal, and the areas for potential investments in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in the country.

According to the statement issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, more than eighty participants including representatives of the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China, public and private sector companies, as well as government officials and media persons participated in the event.

On the seminar Barsha Man Pun Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation said that there are lots of opportunities for the investment and cooperation in power sector development in Nepal, and invited Chinese investors in the development of the country’s hydropower projects.

Nepali Ambassador to China Leela Mani Paudyal also clarified that the year 2018 is a year of new beginnings in Nepal after the successful conclusion of three levels of elections, paving the way for political stability and good governance. He also called on Chinese companies and entrepreneurs to utilize the opportunity for investing in Nepal’s hydropower sector by taking full advantage of its enormous possibilities and the government’s favorable industrial and investment policies.
