Set to introduce new lane rules in the Koteshwor-Kalanki road section

Kathmandu: Traffic police have imposed new lane rules in the Koteshwor-Kalanki road section of Nepal to increase safety road and minimizing accidents.

The division has designated the speed limit in the Koteshwor-Kalanki road as 50 km per hour in the main lane and 20 km per hour in the service lane. According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), separate lanes were set aside for particular types of vehicles along the eight-lane road.

Mr.Bhim Prasad Dhakal, SSP at Metropolitan Traffic Police Division said the public and goods carrier vehicles that travel at low speed will take the left lane while private and small vehicles plying in high speed will follow the right lane of the road. He added the new rules would be strictly implemented to uphold lane discipline, reduce road accidents and ease traffic congestion along the road stretch. The equipment can measure the speed of a vehicle from 300 metres away.

Earlier, MTPD set new rules along the Koteshwor-Suryabinayak road section.
