Sherpa claims golf title

Kathmandu, December 11, 2016: Pemba Sherpa claimed the Carlsberg Golf title at the the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort here on Saturday.

Playing with eight handicap, Sherpa accumulated 37 stableford points to claim the title. SSP (retd) Rajendra Shrestha finished second on countback after he was tied on 36 points with Maj Gen (retd) Mahesh Bikram Karki.

Vijay Shrestha Einhaus won the best gross award with 35 points. Einhaus had double delight as he also bagged the longest drive after being spot on from 330 yards in the 18th hole.

Karki, meanwhile, had some consolation after his nett point earned him the senior (age 60 and above) title. He was also closest to the pin in the 10th hole. Col (retd) Sashi Singh finished second in the senior category with 34 points.

Pratima Sherpa lifted the ladies section trophy with 27 points getting the better of her closest contender Kalpana Limbu, who scored 25 points. Wanchen Dhondup took the most birdies with four birdies.

A total of 90 players took part in the tournament played under stableford format with 3/4 handicap. Managing Director of Gorkha Brewery Pvt Ltd Arun Adhikary, Marketing Director Baibhav Sharma, Sales Director Kajiman Subba among others gave away the prizes.
