Mustang, December 1, 2016:Â Raj Kumar Shresthaâ€™s domination continued as he maintained lead after the sixth stage of the Mustang Madness, a cross country mountain bike race, in Mustang on Thursday.
Shrestha clocked four hours and 33 seconds to complete the 48.3km distance of the sixth stage from Tange, situated at an altitude of 3350m, to Marpha. Shrestha finished nearly 48 minutes ahead of Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, who took four hours, 47 minutes and 58 seconds. Rajendra Chemjong finished third with a timing of four hours, 48 minutes and 51 seconds.
With the end of six rounds that covered 176.1km, Shrestha is at the top of the standing with the timing of 13 hours, six minutes and 47 seconds, while Buddhi Bahadur Tamang is second in 14 hours, 38 minutes and 07 seconds and Man Bahadur Thapa Magar is third with 15 hours, 38 minutes and 46 seconds. â€œTodayâ€™s race was quite tough as I carried the bike for 45 minutes on my shoulders to cross Pahala Pass. And I am confident of winning the title since I have built a healthy lead over other competitors,â€ said Shrestha.
The winner of the race will take home Rs 125,000, while runner-up will win a cash purse of Rs 75,000 and third place finisher will get Rs 50,000. The opening stage was held over 13.2km from Kagbeni to Muktinath and bikers completed 22km to Chele in second stage. The third stage of 36km was held from Chele to Dhani, while the bikers covered 26km distance to Lomang Thang of Upper Mustang. The fifth stage was held on Tuesday covering 32.3km distance to Tange.
