Solar lights installed in Tanahun

Khairenitar, December 6, 2016: As many as 68 solar lights were installed in Khairenitar and Dulegauda Bazaar areas of Suklagandaki Municipality, Tanahun, recently.

The project, involving installation of 28 solar lights in Khairenitar and 40 in Dulegauda cost around Rs 70 lakh.

Chairperson of the Tanahun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Unit Arjun Kumar Shrestha said that solar lights were installed at a distance of 50 metres on both sides of the road.

Former chairperson of the unit Hari Bahadur Thapa said the project has transformed the bazaar areas into tourist attractions and also reduced the crime rate.

Road accidents, thefts, and other unwanted activities have reportedly gone down after the lights were installed.

Sukla Gandaki Municipality has reportedly offered to cover 70 per cent of the budget, while consumers contributed 15 per cent and Khaireni festival contributed the remaining 15 per cent.

It s also said that CCTV cameras will be installed from the profit made from Khaireni festival within some days.
