Some 400 illegal Chinese motorcycles' process starts to legalize

Mustang, August 7, 2015: Process for some 400 illegal Chinese motorcycles has been initiated to legalize at six VDCs of Upper Mustang.

At Lomanthang, Chhoser, Chhonhup, Charrang, Surkhang and Ghami VDCs, the illegal Chinese motorcycles are in use for years due to lack of government observance. To bring the illegal motorcycles under the ambit of law by holding the owners of the motorcycles to account, the Border Administration Office and Customs Office have begun the process.

Through the Korala border checkpoint, the motorcycles were illegally brought as both the offices are based in the district headquarters, it is said.

Locals brought the motorcycles neglecting customs from trade fares organised between entrepreneurs of Upper Mustang and China twice in a year, Chief at the Border Administration Office, Lomanthang, Krishna Raj Dhakal, said.
