Ratnanagar (Chitwan),27 Nov 2014: It has been eight days reporter with the National News Agency of Nepal (RSS) from Chitwan, Narayan Adhikari, was attacked, but the local administration has failed to find the culprits.
Chief District Officer at Chitwan, Dr Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, said as the district police failed to even glean the information on the attack on reporter Adhikari, a special team was demanded from the central level to intensify the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Chitwan, has submitted 1,000 signatures demanding immediate arrest of the attackers and mete out justice. The signatures were collected by the FNJ Chitwan on Wednesday.
The signatures were also sent to the FNJ Central Office and the International Federation of Journalists as solidarity and pressure bids.
Former Chairman of the FNJ, Dharmendra Jha, said the attack on reporter Adhikari was premeditated. He expressed worry over the administration’s slack investigation.
The FNJ Chitwan has launched programmes against the intimidation against journalists.
Reporter Adhikari had received serious injury after some unknown people attacked him with a sharp weapon a week back.
