Nepali boys register victory in South Asian Qualifiers for Asian U-12 Team Championships

Kathmandu, April 25: Nepali junior tennis boy’s team recorded victory against the Bhutanese team by 3-0 on Tuesday during the South Asian Regional Qualifiers of ITF Asian U-12 Team Championships.

Nepal’s Aki Zuben Rawat won over Bhutan’s Tashi Nima Chhiring by 6-0,6-0, another Nepali player Aarav Samrat defeated Hada Bhutan’s Sherab Gelsen by 6-0,6-1 in the singles’ category, while in doubles Nepali pair of Pranab Manandhar and Hada who won over Bhutan’s Jigme Pema Nagme and Chhiring by 6-0, 6-0 in the double’s category.

All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association (ANLTA) organized South Asian Regional Qualifiers of ITF Asian U-12 Team Championships from 23rd April, 2018 at Satdobato tennis courts in Lalitpur, Nepal. The finalist of the championship will qualify for the Asian event to be held in Kazakhstan in November.

The championship is played in round robin league format with the top four teams making it to the semi-finals. Five teams including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan is participating in boys event whereas four teams excluding Pakistan is participating in girls event.

Each nation under each category will have three players. The players will take part in two singles and one doubles categories.
