SSCAESS Seminar kicks off in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Oct 1: A three-day seminar on small-scale compressed air energy storage systems (SSCASS) has kicked off in Lalitpur from today.

Prof Dr Govinda Raj Pokhrel, Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission (NPC) inaugurated the event jointly organized by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and the United States (US) Agency for International Development.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the seminar, NPC Vice-Chancellor Pokhrel underscored the consistent exploration and development of the alternative energy for Nepal reeling under the energy crisis.

He believed that the event, targeted at the policy makers, would help them formulate appropriate policies for the same in Nepal.

Similarly, Vice-Chancellor of NAST, Prof Dr Jeevraj Pokharel, shared that seminar will dwell on additional opportunities on the production of the SSCAESS as well as on the introduction of air energy map and technological advancement achieved in this field.

Also, speaking at the seminar, Dr Krishna Chandra Poudel, Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, believed that the seminar will be useful in exploring alternatives to the energy crisis prevailing in Nepal.
