Kathmandu, March 14, 2016: Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai said that the government floated a plan to operate the state-owned media with new priorities and visions.

During his meeting with the Press Chautari Nepal today, Minister Rai shared that the government media had been asked to come up with new action plans and reform programmes .

The government was also working on this, he added.

“The government media cannot run in the conventional way. They need to be operated professionally in a self-sufficient manner. But the respective management should be ready for this,” said Rai.

The revision of the existing communication policy, implementation of the Working Journalists’ Act, establishment of the communications museum and accidental insurance for journalists were his priorities since he assumed the post of the Minister for Information and Communications, he further added.

Press Chautari Nepal Chair Rajendra Aryal, General Secretary Madhav Nepal, Secretary Rajesh Rai and central member Surojung Pandey were present on the occasion.
