Ratnanagar (Chitwan),12 Nov 2014: Employees of Chitwan-based BP Memorial Cancer Hospital have finally agreed to withdraw their agitation, after signing a 21-point agreement with the hospital administration.

They were on a relay hunger strike for the past one month, putting forth a charter of eight point demands.  A padlock placed at the office of the hospital executive director has been removed today.

A meeting between the two sides late night yesterday ended conclusively.  Emerging from the meeting, Ramesh Sharma Poudel, a representative of Nepali Congress-aligned Health Workers Association, announced the withdrawal of all planned programmes of agitation.

Allocation of increased remuneration to employees, implementation of the agreement reached between them and the executive officer in the past, scrapping of transfer of technical staffs to administration section, sound management of staff and maintenance of dysfunctional equipments are among the demands put forth by hospital employees.

Frequent strikes in the hospital have caused inconvenience to patients.
