Dolpa, Aug. 6: Increasing number of students are leaving school to go on a pilgrimage in Dolpa in the present holy month of Shrawan.

Many students believe that a pilgrimage at this time of the year would help bring them success in their studies.

Apart from the studies, there is also a belief that one’s future would be happy and successful if the pilgrimage is completed, said Lal Bahadur Rokaya, a grade 12 student at local Janaprabha Higher Secondary School.

As a result, the Karnali primary school in Parila, Mahadev Primary School in Ralli, Bidyodaya Primary School in Karelidanda, Mahakabi Primary School in Ralli in the district remain closed due to lack of students.

“We were compelled to close down the school for 6 days starting August 5 as most of the students have left for the pilgrimage”, head teacher of Karnali Primary School Hari Krishna Sharma said.
