SUNKOSHI RIVER BLOCKAGE- UML DEMANDS SECURITY MEASURES

Kathmandu, Aug. 2: The CPN (UML) parliamentary party has expressed grief over the loss of life and property caused by the massive landslide in Sindhupalchowk district and demanded the government immediately arrange security measures for those facing risk from the Sunkoshi river blockage resulted from landslides.

 

A meeting of party held today under the chair of parliamentary leader KP Sharma Oli urged the government to immediately shift the people of risky areas to safety, take all possible measures to minimize further risks and even take help from India to prevent possible damages in the downstream settlements.

 

The meeting has welcomed Indian Prime Minister’s Nepal visit taking place from Sunday and expressed the hope that Modi’s visit would be successful in consolidating bilateral ties, promoting bilateral interests, prosperity and regional stability, according to a press statement issued by  CPN (UML) deputy general secretary Bishnuprasad Poudel on behalf of the parliamentary party.
