Chautara, Aug. 2: The Sunkoshi River which was blocked by a massive landslide occurred at Jure of Sindhupalchowk district has got an outlet through overflow from 2:00 pm today.

The Nepal Army team carried out blasting near the blockage site with the help of a robot boat. The river is expected to return to normal level after 10 hours if it continues to flow at the present rate of overflow.

The NA, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are jointly carrying out rescue operations at the landslide-affected areas. The river was blocked following a landslide at Itani cliff of Ramche VDC-5 leading to formation of a lake up to four kilometers.

The 2.5 Megawatt Sunkoshi project power house of Sanima Hydro Power based in Dhuskun VDC has been inundated, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bohara.

The local administration has urged the human settlements near the river bank at Lamo Sanghu, Khandichaur, Kothe, Balefi, Sukute and Bandeu to remain alert to the possible damages caused by the river blockage. Locals of Okharbote of Ramche-4 and Patale of Ramche-9 have fled the settlements following cracks in soil. Dry landside was reportedly taken place there.
