Tension at Rajbiraj due to road accident

tension at rbjRajbiraj, March 29. Two persons died in separate road accidents in Saptari district on Friday.

Rashmi Gurung (26) of Jalpaigudi, India died when a bus she was travelling on met with an accident in Kalyanpur-6 at around 6 am today.

The passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 3788) en route to Kakadbhitta of Jhapa from Kathmandu got the accident while trying to overtake a truck (Na 2 Kha 9609).

The seriously injured Gurung had died while being rushed to Nakati Rayapur-based Unique Hospital.

As many as 16 people have been injured in the accident. Of them, seven are undergoing treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and seven at local health facilities in Lahan, said DSP Rajkumar Baidabar. The two other are at the Unique Hospital.

The bus was partly destroyed in the accident. Police have impounded the truck for investigation.

Likewise, a motorcyclist died while a truck hit his bike in Rajbiraj Municipality-1 on Friday afternoon.

Maulana Akhtar Ullah (26) of Baliya Gaun, Dadha-1 died on the spot while the truck (Na 2 Kha 7984) hit his bike at around 4pm today, according to District Police Office.

Meanwhile, locals obstructed vehicular movement in Rajbiraj after the accident. They also broke off screens of the truck.

Police impounded the truck, but the driver fled the scene after the incident.

Ullah’s body has been sent to the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital.
