Grant program of TEVT capacity support project begins

Pokhara, November 9, 2017: The Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT) capacity support project’s regional grant program has begun.

The British Council is operating the project funded by the European Union for the improvement of technical education and vocational training sector in the country.

A programme was organized on Wednesday in Pokhara to inform the stakeholders on the objective, process, criteria and requirements of the grant and impart knowledge to the potential grant applicants on primary application and submission procedures.

At the program coordinated by Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it was informed that the Capacity-TEVT Practical Partnership Project has forwarded a grant distribution process for the development of competent human resource required for agriculture, construction and tourism sectors.

The project aims to contribute to the development efforts by generating employment opportunities through investments in human capital. The project will provide a maximum grant of 1 million Euro to the selected applicants for the enhancement of capacity in different technical sectors.

Now the application for the grant has been open and the applicants can submit their concept notes through email no later than coming December 6, according to the British Council.

Speaking at the official opening of regional grant programme, Executive Officer at Pokhara Metropolis Dirgha Narayan Poudel expressed his hope that the grant programme will offer employment and self-employment to the Nepali youths wandering for overseas employment.

Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairperson Biswo Shanker Palikhe said the training will contribute to attain employment opportunities and economic prosperity.
