Kathmandu,6 Feb 2015: Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, Ms Kanthong Unakul paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the PM Residence at Baluwatar today.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the diplomatic, economic and trade relations between Nepal and Thailand as well as on the topics of peace and stability.
On the occasion, PM Koirala expressed that the diplomatic ties that were started during the reign of popular leader BP Koirala is characterised by cordiality.
He said Buddhism has brought Thailand, a country with a majority Buddhist population and Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, closer.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister also recalled the agreement on easing the movement of citizens by means of road, railway and air connectivity among the BIMSTEC member countries reached in the BIMSTEC Summit held in Myanmar last year.
The outgoing Thai Ambassador said her stay in Nepal had been pleasant and fruitful, referring to the meeting of the Nepal-Thailand Joint Committee, construction of a crematorium in Janakpur with Thai assistance, organisation of an eye care camp in Lumbini, establishment of Thailand Corner at educational institutions, among others as some works carried out during her term.
