This is the Model colony built by Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation for the Musahar Community people, one of the most disadvantaged ethnic communities residing in the Southern belt of eastern Nepal. The students organized an interaction program among the Mushar people about women reproduction and significance of sanitation for children’s health. This educational visit of the colony is a part of their course of studies. According to Piyush Shrestha, the lecturer of Social Work in DMC, “This study visit to terai region has benefited both the community and students. Such interactions help exchange knowledge and ideas, and then explore the problems and thereby bring out some way outs. We have broken the general tendency of doing study visits in places nearby Kathmandu valley and urge our students to do research on the real problems so that it could bring positive changes in the target communities.”

For Krishna Thapa, the president of College Students’ Council, This visit has helped the students understand the geography and culture different from Kathmandu Valley. Most importantly, it’s inspiring for us all to learn from Dhurmus- Suntali Foundation that we can do a lot of if we are deeply committed and strongly determined.”
