Kathmandu, May 24, 2018: The first ever Action for SDGs Campaign by AIESEC in Nepal was launched on 26th of April with a CALL FOR IDEAS. The 2018 campaign theme is focused on “The Coalition 2030: Youth for Global Goals” and the essence of execution in order to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations. By closely assessing Nepal’s most pressing challenges in technology, sustainability, and practices, we will assess the role of youth in social entrepreneurship in making 2030 a reality. The concept is designed to INSPIRE the youth of Nepal to ENGAGE with mentors, business leaders and ACT on their social ideas towards the 2030 Global Goals.”
AIESEC is a global youth run organization present in over 120 countries with a vision to achieve peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential. We develop leadership in youth through our global exchange programs that develop qualities such as the ability to empower others, becoming self aware, a world citizen and most importantly being solution oriented. Through our various platforms we seek to inspire, engage and mobilize young people to take ownership of their thoughts and actions so as to make a difference and contribute to a better society. One such way through which we do this is our Youth Speak Forum, an event that takes place all over the world bringing young leaders together with business leaders and experts for a conversation around some of the most talked about global issues with the hope to generate new and most importantly actionable ideas that will create a lasting impact for the future.
The goal of the campaign is to mobilize youth from across Nepal to submit their ideas for addressing six particular SDGs that currently pertain specifically to Nepal. Participants will have the opportunity to attend the one-day event consisting of the Youth Speak Forum where they will hear from keynote speakers, attend SDG workshops and listen in on a panel discussion on social entrepreneurship and youth advocacy in policy making. The top ten winning ideas will have the opportunity to move forward to the evening event called The Coalition 2030 where they will engage with UN agencies, educational institutions, leaders of the government, corporate and social sectors. Here the winning three ideas will win a seed fund and will move to a six months incubation with AIESEC Nepal where their ideas will be nurtured into implementable projects.
This initiative of AIESEC in Nepal is to allow the youth to have hands on experience in project ideation and providing solutions to key issues. It is a great opportunity for them to also network with key stakeholders in the country to learn and understand what is needed in Nepal in order for the country to grow.
The deadline for applications is 1st June 2018
