Kathmandu, 21 September 2015: CPN (UML) chairman KP Oli has remarked that today is the happiest day for the Nepalis all over the world. Talking to journalists after the declaration of the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal, 2072 from the Constituent Assembly today, he said the dream of the Nepalis to write a constitution through their representatives has come true today. “The constitution has been passed by an overwhelming majority of the Constituent Assembly. The Assembly has fulfilled all its formal steps and ultimately the President has declared the promulgation of the constitution,’ he said.

He opined that all the Nepalis should rejoice as it is the constitution of the people framed through the highest democratic process. Claiming that the Constituent Assembly that has the appropriate representation through the inclusive and proportional participation has issued the constitution in a very democratic process and procedure, the UML chairman termed it as a big achievement. “It is a big achievement; the constitution has taken the country beyond the transition and out of instability,†he added. He reiterated that the features of the new constitution were very significant. “This constitution is a federal, democratic republican constitution and the seven-province federalism has been ensured in the constitution. The republic has been institutionalised. It has made provision that the sovereignty is vested in the people,†he said further.The UML chairman stated that the constitution has guaranteed the rights of all the people living in the Mountainous, Hilly and the Tarai regions and the people of all walks of life and also has enshrined the commissions for protecting the rights and welfare of the women, Madhesis, indigenous nationalities, Tharus and the marginalized section. Stating it cannot be said that there is always unanimity in the democratic and multi-party system, he said the voice of the majority should not be neglected and it should be accepted. Chairman Oli said there is no reason to be saddened when the people’s constitution is issued, urging not to have the feeling of non-cooperation.
He also called on all to return to the mainstream political fold. Stating that the demands of the agitating parties could be discussed, he asked the agitating parties to be clear on their demands.
