Thimi Municipality Started Demolishing Houses

June 2, 2015: Madyapur Thimi municipality has started demolishing the houses that are in high risk after the earthquake in 25th April.

The Municipality has demolished 52 houses and they are mobilized their mechanism in more places in Thimi to demolish risky houses said Keshav Silwal, Senior legal advisor and Information Officer at the Municipality. He also added these houses were demolished following the applications filed to the municipality by the people to demolish their unsafe houses.

The Municipality is currently working with Nepal Army, the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police. They are also collecting the data’s of destroyed houses. 4,058 houses was destroyed in the Municipality, among them 1,186 were completely damaged, 1,454 partially damaged while 1,118 suffered minor damages.

Municipality has started constructing temporary toilets, and distribution of drinking water in the coordination with various social organizations and clubs. They have also mobilized medical teams with the support of doctors and health workers associated to Municipal Health Center, the Thimi Health Post, Vayodha Hospital, KIST Hospital, Dhulikhel Hospital. They have already examined 1,325 quake victims during a month period since April 25 quake.
