Ilam,1 Dec 2014: A total of 30 women have gone missing from Pashupatinagar border point during the 10 months period from January to October 2014.
Complaints about as many women missing from Pashupatinagar border check point, which shares border with India, have been filed at the Maiti Nepal, Pashupatinagar.
Coordinator of the Maiti Nepal, Pashupatinagar, Hom Dhakal, said that out of the missing women, 13 were rescued and handed over to their relatives.
They were rescued from Darjeeling, Siliguri and Sikkim of India with the help of police. They were sold to brothels in India.
According to the Maiti Nepal, search for the 17 missing women was underway.
Women from Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung and other districts are trafficked to India. The Maiti Nepal recorded the highest number of complaints of missing from Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk districts.
Similarly, the Maiti Nepal rescued 97 women from various border check points during the period and handed them over to their parents.
