Jajarkot, August. 14: Some 90,000 students have been deprived of education as a result of the indefinite banda enforced in Jajarkot since Monday.
The banda called in protest against the proposed demarcation concerning the mid-west region has led to the closure of 278 primary school, nine institutional primary schools, 79 lower secondary school, four institutional lower secondary schools, 44 secondary schools and 20 higher secondary schools in the district.
Students in the region have been repeatedly suffering due to various reasons including swine flu and the season for collection of Yarsagumba. Repeated sloganeering and rallies in the district headquarters and in major markets across the district has also affected regular public life.
Works of government offices in the district headquarters have also come to a standstill as a result of the strike. The movement will continue until our demands are met, says coordinator of the civic movement Rajendra Bikram Shah.
