Kathmandu: The first day of the three-day Swayambhu area cleanup drive kicked off on Sunday in preparation for the nearing inauguration of the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign.
The different social and tourism agencies partnered with Visit Nepal 2020 to organize the cleanup drive.
General Secretary of TIGAN, Mr. Sarki Thapa said- “Trekking Guide Association Nepal (TIGAN) leading the cleanup drive of the Swayambhu area in coordinating with Visit Nepal 2020 secretariat, and other organization including Peak Promotion Foundation.” He reported that the drive will continue for three days and more 200 volunteers attended including 25 students from Valley Public School on the first day of the campaign.
According to the Paschim Paila Sanstha, about 500 kgs of garbages were collected and handed over to the Swayambhu Area Development Committee for its management.
Visit Nepal 2020 secretariat provided ‘Nepal’ stamped t-shirts and caps to volunteers while the development committee refreshed the drive.
