Kathmandu, Oct 12: Deliberations on the contentious issues in the upcoming constitution began among the three major political partiesâ€”Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) at Singha Durbar today.
The meeting of the three parties that began in the morning will continue throughout the day today, according to leaders taking part in the meeting.
Serious deliberations have begun on the issues of federalism, forms of governance, electoral system and judicial system, said NC Vice-chair Ram Chandra Poudel.
Every political party shall put forth their positions and efforts shall be made to find a point of convergence, added Poudel.
After the three parties come to an agreement, other political forces including the Madhesi and Indigenous nationalities shall be taken into confidence.
Likewise, UML Vice-chair Bhim Rawal said the three parties are likely to become flexible in their respective positions.
NC President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman KP Oli and other senior leaders are likely to join the meeting at 2:00 pm later today.
