Tribhuvan University and Mahidol University of Thailand Agreed to Sign MoU

Kathmandu, March 9, 2019: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to initiate formal academic relations between Tribhuvan University, Nepal and Mahidol University, Thailand on March 7.

Prof. Ram Prasad Khatiwada, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University and Associate Prof. Pratap Singhasivanon, Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University signed the document of MoU.

While speaking on the occasion Mahidol Dean Singhasivanon assured that his university is interested to collaborate in research activities with TU specifically in tropical medicine that would result in joint publication.

According to HoD Dr Megh Raj Banjara, MU will provide a full scholarship to two faculty members of the Central Department of Microbiology, TU. Prof. Khatiwada, TU Deanin response to him thanked for MU initiative and remarked this event as a significant step towards building and promoting academic relations between the two universities.

Earlier Prof. Bhupa Prasad Dhamala, Executive Director of the Centre for International Relations, TU highlighted various aspects of TU and hoped that this MoU would open up many avenues of specific issues for collaboration and cooperation. Likewise, Prof. Prakash Ghimire, Prof. AnandaBallav Joshi, an alumnus of MU and Prof. SririchaKrudsood, Deputy Dean of MUs also expressed their views on the occasion. Dr Banjara, as the Head of the Central Department of Microbiology, had welcomed the delegates in the beginning and Prof. Anjana Singh delivered a vote of thanks to the participants.

Later the Mahidol team of delegates met the Vice-chancellor of TU Prof. Tirth Raj Khaniya who extended his sincere gratitude to the Dean of Mahidol University and his delegates for visiting TU and signing the MoU. He remarked that this is the significant beginning for further collaboration and cooperation between the two universities. In response, Dean Singhasivanon thanked for TU’s positive response and hospitality extended to him on behalf of TU.
