Kathmandu,31 Jan 2015: The Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Manang Marsyangdi in tie breaker 3-2 to win the NBA Nepal Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2071 at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.
The scoreline in the final match remained 2-2 during the end of the regulation time of 60 minutes pushing the two teams into a tie breaker in which Army Club won 3-2.
Chief of Army Staff Gaurav SJB Rana, who attended the programme as the chief guest, conferred a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 on the winning team and Rs 25,000 in cash with certificates on the runner-up.
Later, the Nepal Army granted a donation of the same amount as the cash prize of Rs 50,000 of the Tribhuvan Army Club and handed over the sum total of Rs 100,000 to Sports for All Club Nepal. CoAS Rana handed over the donation to the Club’s Chairman Lok Bahadur Shahi.
Similarly, NA Major General Rajendra Chhetri had handed over Rs 50,000 on behalf of the NA to the Club during the inaugural ceremony.
The tournament was organized by Sports for All Club Nepal and sponsored by Nepal Bankers Association to collect economic support for former national players. The tournament started on January 9.
