17 November,2014: The 20th edition of Cinemandu was organised by the Embassy of India and BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation on November 14 at Nepal-Bharat Library, Nepal Airlines Building in Newroad.

“Remembering Alok Nembang: Screening of ‘Sano Sansar’ in Cinemandu” was a tribute to the critically acclaimed director Alok Nembang, who passed away last week. “He was one of the few Nepali directors who, in such a short span of time, contributed immensely to the Nepali film industry. His movies have been the talk of the town and he contributed a lot in introducing a new generation of actors in the industry. This is a great loss and he will always be remembered,” said Abhay Kumar, Secretary of BP Koirala India Nepal Foundation, as he offered a garland to the picture of Nembang.

A moment of silence was observed by the audience to pray for Nembang’s departed soul.

“I wouldn’t have been a part of the industry had Alok Nembang not persuaded me to do ‘Sano Sansar’. It was my first film, as it was his. Forgive me, I can’t speak much. It is still unbelievable to me that he is no more with us. To elaborate the times we spent together will be very painful,” said Namrata Shrestha.

The 21st edition of Voices will feature Indian actor Seema Biswas, and is scheduled to be held on November 17 at 4 pm. The event is open to all.
