February 24, 2016: Adding a third straight drive in his drive for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump won the Nevada caucuses Tuesday night.

Similarly, in order to finish second behind Trump Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas were battling against each other, but it was too close in early returns to call the final positions.

The win makes Trump the victor in three of the four states that have voted on the Republican side. His only loss so far was at the Iowa caucuses, where he took second behind Cruz.

With 5 percent of precincts reporting, Trump was pulling in 42 percent of the vote. Cruz had 21 percent whereas Rubio trailed with about 25 percent each.

Trump’s victory came a week before Super Tuesday on March 1, the first multi-state day on the nomination calendar and one that demands more money and campaign infrastructure.

A crowd of about 1,000 supporters at Treasure Island Casino erupted into applause and chanted, “Trump! Trump! Trump!” when Trump was projected as the winner by CNN.
