TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION OF RAGHUGHAR HYDROPOWER PROJECT BEGINS

Myagdi, Aug. 24: The construction of tunnel of Rahughat Hydropower Project (32 MW) has been started.

Deputy Director of the Project Mani Kafle said that construction of the tunnel was started from Tilkenichaur in Piple VDC adding that the tunnel would be constructed from two other sites.

Kafle said that the contractor company IVRCL is planning to construct the tunnel from Piple and the dam site shortly after the end of rainy season.

The tunnel of the run-of-the-river based project would be six kilometers long, it is said. Indian company IVRCL is developing the civil constructions of the project at Rs 2.5 billion. The civil constructions of the project include 12 km road, 6.15 km tunnel, power house and dam.

The Exim Bank of India has provided 31 million US dollars while Nepal Electricity Authority would bear other cost of the project.
