Kathmandu, December 28, 2016:Â Kathmandu-based IEC College of Art and Fashion has been nominated for the upcoming Fashion Asia Awards 2016. The award ceremony is slated to be held in Chongqing, China, on December 30.
Fashion Asia Awards, which is regarded as the Oscars of the Asian Fashion World, will have a total of 160 judges who are directors, editors of fashion magazines, associates of the fashion industry and celebrities. IEC College of Art and Fashion will contend with colleges from various other Asian countries like China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India and Sri Lanka. IEC college of Art and Fashion has been nominated under the category of Asiaâ€™s top fashion organisations of the year.
Also nominated for the awards is Khusbu Gauchan, an alumnus of the institution, under the category Asiaâ€™s top five stylists of the year; while winner of Manhunt International Nepal, Sanish Shakya, has been nominated for Asian top five fashion models of the year (male).
Manish Deepak, director of operation at IEC College of Art and Fashion, said: â€œNepal is a country that is not fashion forward. Despite this, being nominated for such a reputed award is a matter of pride for us.â€ He further added, â€œIt is a matter of honour to represent Nepal in one of the top fashion events in Asia.â€
