Kathmandu,14 Dec 2014: UCPN (Maoist) today took a decision to dissolve the party officials but continue retention of the Central Committee and hold a Special General Convention soon.
The party’s Standing Committee meet held at UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s Lazimpat residence took the decision to resolve the rising dispute within the party and advance the process of unity with other Maoists’ parties effectively.
As per the decision, the Central Committee will be delegated the position of General Convention Organizing Committee, said party Treasurer, Haribol Gajurel.
A provisional team will be created following the dissolution of the party officials to run the administrative works.
The District Committee will also be transformed into the Organizing Committee after the Central Committee is delegated the same task.
After the dissolution of the party officials takes effect, the officials will only remain members of the Central Committee.
The party plunged into dispute after senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai refused to accept the Politburo, Standing Committee and the officials elected during the National Conference held in Biratnagar last year.
The party is preparing to expedite policy and programmes to tackle the dispute over party organization and the ideological rift by holding the Special Convention within a year and also create an environment conducive to unity with different Maoists’ party.
UCPN (Maoist) office-bearers include Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha, General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Secretary Girirajmani Pokharel and Treasurer Haribol Gajurel.
Senior leader Dr Bhattarai and Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamahji had boycotted the officials’ meet citing they would only remain as Central Committee members.
