UML’s Tea Reception: Leaders In Jovial Mood

Kathmandu, Oct 18,2014: The political leaders usually seen involved in an exchange of verbal altercation on Saturday appeared in a different mood at a tea reception and greetings exchange program organized by CPN-UML at its central office in Balkhu.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who had been trading charges to the Nepali Congress and UML leaders and warning a peaceful people´s revolt, appeared in a jovial mood. Dahal was making jokes and gesturing theatrically.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala known for a reserved presence was also seen smiling at Dahal´s dramatic manner.

Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dahal sitting beside each other, for a moment, held discussions over the contentious issues of the constitution during which CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal intercepted saying, “We must move ahead through agreement and cooperation.”

The presence of diplomats including Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae and former Chief of Army Staff Rukmangad Katawal gave an aura of diplomacy.

The reception evoked a feeling as if the upcoming constitution would be promulgated by January 22 next year accentuated by the fact that the leaders were seen to be in agreement with each other.

On the occasion, books on Marxism and Leninism, and literary works of senior UML leaders were put on sale. A bundle of books at the store could be brought for as cheap as Rs 1000.

UML´s the then Chairman Manmohan Adhikari started holding reception on the occasion of festivals since 2051 BS.
