Kathmandu, September 19, 2016: The U.S. Embassy Nepal has distributed textbooks and other materials to various schools in the town. this year
The Embassy provided the stationery materials to the schools that had participated in the ‘Girls Mentorship and Awareness Workshop’ held earlier this year. The workshop had allowed girls in Class 8-10 to gain awareness of a variety of gender equality issues from a group of mentors. In the workshop, the students had an opportunity to develop the knowledge, leadership skills, and confidence to be able to make a difference in their own schools and communities.
As part of the workshop, the participants also developed a short proposal to plan their own project related to women, peace and security. For this, they have also arranged various follow up programmes including dramas, essay competitions, among others on girl’s empowerment and awareness.
