Veteran journo Nepal comes with new book

Kathmandu, May 11, 2016: A book titled Media Siddhant, Sutra Ra Prayog (Theories, Sources and Practices) written by senior journalist Kishore Nepal was launched amid a function at Yellow Pagoda Hotel, Kantipath in the Captial on Tuesday. The book was released by chief guest Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman and Managing Director of Kantipur Media Group (KMG). Other prominent journalists like Narayan Wagle, Rishikesh Dahal, Ujjwal Prasai and Prof P Kharel were also present at the event.

“When I wanted to start my own publication, Kishor Nepal was one of the first people I looked up to for inspiration and encouragement. He is a multitalented human being professionally. He is, in fact, a factory of knowledge and his passion has always intrigued me,” said Sirohiya, at the launch. He also told audiences how he has always been a big fan of Nepali’s published works.

The book, which forges Nepali media history, and talks about the journalist’s experiences over his four-decade-old career, also analyses the growth of media in the country and its current scenario. Also present at the event, journalist Rishikesh Dahal told audiences, “According to an Australian research it is said that ‘Birth of a novelist is a death of a journalist’ but I certainly feel Nepal will always be a young reporter at heart.”

Also speaking at the event was Narayan Wagle, who thanked Nepal for his success and said, “I was a travel writer. If it wasn’t for his idea of making me sit at the parliament, my life would have certainly been different. It goes without saying that he is one of the best journalists in Nepal.”

The event was organised by Kathalaya, a Nepali publication house. The books are out in stands.
