Kathmandu, August 9, 2016: Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Yubaraj Khatiwada, has resigned from the post to be effective from today.

Khatiwada told the National News Agency (RSS) that he quit the post by informing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal through a letter.

“I could not meet the PM owing to his busy schedule, so I informed him through a letter. My resignation from the post is for the convenience of the new government.”

During his term of nine months in the NPC, a concept paper for the 14th national plan was developed. It was focused on effective implementation of the constitution, he said, adding that the initial days were badly hampered by the blockade on the southern border points.

He further said that the NPC also played a significant role on formulation of the development perspective. Even a concept paper for the public, private and cooperatives’ partnership to expedite the projects of national pride was finalised, he added.
