Beni, Jan 21: Locals in Dadhuwa of Beni Municipality-12 burst into cheers after they saw a microbus drive to their village for the first time. They welcomed the vehicle showering flowers on the vehicle and garlanding the driver, amid a function, Wednesday.

The villagers were elated and excited as the microbus stopped near the Jyoti Lower Secondary School, Dadhua, carrying some passengers. They reached Dadhuwa of the municipality after three-hour-long drive from the District headquarters, said Jhal Bahadur BK, a local.

Locals were forced to pay high fare for a ride on jeeps for the last six years. Jhal Bahadur said with the arrival of the microbus in the village the villagers are hopeful for comfortable journey in cheaper fare.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the local intellectuals and religious leaders, decided to organize 15-day-long Sata Rudrabhishek from April 6 by wishing for world peace and protection of the Hinduism at Ghatan, of Galeshwor in the municipality, said Guman Singh Karki, Myagdi District Secretary of Bishwa Hindu Mahasangh.

A nine-member committee coordinated by Pandit Bhimnath Parajuli has been formed to manage the religious function.
