Walkathon Programme :Promoting Tourism in Nagarjun

    Kathmandu: Nagarjun Municipality organized a walkathon programme to promote tourism and support ongoing Visit Nepal Year 2020. Thousands of people participated in a six-kilometre walkathon programme.

    The walkathon programme started from Swoyambhu Chowk and passed through Halchowk-Ichangu Narayan temple-Adheshwor temple and finally concluded at White Gumba.

    Chairman of Ward 7, Mr.Prem Lal Shrestha said the main purpose of the walkathon was to push the authorities concerned to take the initiative to include the historic Ichangu Narayan temple on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The Ichangu Narayan temple and its surrounding are about 2,500 years old and the list of World Heritage should be included in the promotion and protection of the region.

    He added that there are more than a dozen cultural sites, attractive hill stations for hiking, bicycle tours and towers to enjoy spectacular views of Kathmandu and surrounding districts Nagarjuna Municipality. Shrestha mentioned that the municipality has several homestay facilities where tourists can enjoy the peaceful village life and traditional cuisine.
