Kathmandu, May 3, 2017: As the local election is approaching, U.S. Embassy Youth Council (USYC), a part of U.S. Embassy Nepal and We Inspire Nepal (WIN) are organizing a platform where we will be bringing together the proposed “Mayor” candidates of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in a common platform to share their views and debate in a face-to-face forum.
The event, called Drishtikon focuses on creating a debating culture among political candidates in Nepal to help voters get a more direct and better perspective towards their candidates.
This process shall be a means of educating students and youths of regarding the democratic process and situation of the country. The debate will highlight some of the most pressing issues of today and the candidate’s vision for solutions to those problems.
Moreover, it will be a platform that has similar objectives as that of the very popular U.S. Presidential Debate, as the idea is inspired from that platform.
