Lamki, Jan 28,2015: The Morning Bell Nepali vernacular daily on Tuesday distributed warm clothes to 122 children from the landless Badi community in Balchaur of Lamkichuha municipality-1 of the district.
The noble effort was made to mark the 9th anniversary of the publication of the daily newspaper. The donation was also an effort to draw the attention of the state towards the problem of food, cloth and shelter of the destitute children, according to Editor of the daily Birendra Rawal.
The poor Badi community live in temporary huts along the side of the East-west Highway in Balchaur.
Meanwhile, in Lumbini, Nepal Police distributed blankets and warm clothes to poor families affected by the cold wave in different parts of the district.
The Lumbini Zonal Police Office, Bhairahawa with support from an NGO called Nepal Shares, distributed the support to the families in Meudihawa, Gallamandi, Siktahan, Majhagawa, Marchawar among others in Rupandehi district. Around 1200 blankets as well as clothes were distributed to the poor and destitute families of the district, said Zonal Police Chief Ganesh KC
