Kathmandu, August 8, 2016: Government owned Nepal Telecom and private corporation Ncell are currently the largest network operators in Nepal, and there is much debate as to which of the two companies contributes most in taxes.
Data from the past three fiscal years suggests that Ncell pays more in taxes in spite of having less customers overall.
While Ncell has more GSM customers, the total number of Nepal Telecom customers (when GSM, CDMA and PSTN are taken into account) is higher.
The reason for Nepal Telecom paying less taxes than Ncell despite having a larger customer base and geographical reach is that because it is a public-private partnership company, the corporate ranking for Telecom is lower.
