Siddhartha,11 Jan 2015: Raw bricks worth millions of rupees have been destroyed by the winter rain in the tarai region.
Raw bricks worth over Rs 50 million were destroyed in the Lumbini Brick Factory due to winter rain in this season, Dolraj Pandey, vice-chair of the District Brick Entrepreneurs Association said.The loss was the greatest seen ever in the past 15 years.
Not only brick factory runners, workers have also suffered as a result of the winter rainfall. As many as 52 brick factories are in operation in the district. Over 90 per cent brick workers in the district come from neighbouring India.
