Hyderabad, India, March 14, 2016: With the intention to train more technical officials in this sport, Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India, have decided to organize the captioned courses and workshop for players with the support of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF), Sports Authority of Telangana State (STATS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from 22nd to 26th Jun, 2016 at K V R Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda, Hyderabad.
The training will be conducted by expert instructors from IWBF. This is the first time IWBF instructors are conducting such training in India, and so they deem it a great opportunity for participants to interact with world-class Wheelchair Basketball sports professionals.
All the participants will take part in classroom sessions, referee and coach candidates will have on-court training sessions. Classification candidates will observe games and work with the instructors to test their skills at identifying the classification of the players on the court. Players will have practice sessions. As a promotional offer, the training along with food and accommodation will be provided free of cost for coaches, referees, classifiers, except for the registration fee of Rs. 500.
The organizing committee are looking for participation form as many states and Union Territory in India as possible. For workshop, preference will be given to 7 participants (a combination of new and experienced players and out of these 7, at least two participants should be women players) from each State/Union Territory. Final discretion will be with WBFI in accepting these applications and finalizing the candidates.
For the classifier course, physiotherapists and other medical professionals and Physical Educationalist are eligible for application. Basketball Coaches, Basketball Referees or Basketball Players who are 25 years of age or above may apply for the coach and referee courses and both experienced and new players may apply for the players camp. The last date for applying is 20th May 2016.
