Kathmandu, July 28: The 7th World Hepatitis Day is being observed in Nepal too by organizing a variety of programmes under the slogan for the year ‘Hepatitis: Think Again’.

Marking the occasion, an awareness raising rally was organized jointly by the Liver Foundation, the Liver Clinic, Micro Plant Nepal and Rotary Club of Bhagaon here this morning.

The rally that began from Shanti batika of Ratna Park passed through exhibition road, Bhadrakali, Sahidgate, New Road, Bir Hospital and dispersed upon reaching back to the Shanti batika.

On the occasion, Chairman of Liver Foundation Dr Santosh Man Shrestha said Hepatitis A and E is a result of polluted water so taking care of the water used for drinking could help one stay away from it.

Likewise, Hepatitis B and C leads to infection of the liver and liver cancer, so people should be very careful about it, added Shrestha.

Some 300,000 people in Nepal are reportedly suffering from various kinds of liver disease including Hepatitis.
