World’s first ‘Rafting Riding Musical Concert’ happening this Saturday

The programme seeks to promote domestic tourism, and also set a Guinness World Record

Kathmandu, February 28, 2017: ‘Music for Tourism’, the world’s first tourism rafting riding music concert is all set to be organized in Trishuli river this March 4th, Saturday. The event is being held to give a message rafting is a safe adventure sport, and promote domestic tourism in Nepal.

Being organized by Nepal Tourism Board in association with Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), an association promoting water tourism in Nepal, the event will see musical concert and Deejay sessions being performed from the rafts itself. Popular Nepali artists including Dhiraj Rai, Vijay Lama, Rekha Poudel, Ensu Rai, Tarjan Limbu, Balkumar Shrestha, DJ Bimal among others will have their performances on the occasion.

“As water-transportation has played a vital role to promote domestic and international tourism in Nepal, the event is being organized to give a message that rafting is safe in Nepal, and also to promote domestic tourism,” said the organizers in a statement. “The essence of the symbiosis of music and rafting is to make the journey even more enjoyable,” it added.

The ‘rafting riding musical concert’ will start from Fisling and will end at Kurintar, covering a distance of around 3. 5 kilometers. The session will last for a minimum of 45 minutes.

The rafting will be inaugurated by the Tourism Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, as per the organizers.

The programme will also be sent to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The organizers have set the limit of the participants to 200. The ticket price for the participation is set at two thousand rupees.
