YOUTH DECLARATION: Nepalese Youth Voice

Kathmandu, December 5, 2015:On the occasion of 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) which is being held in Paris this year from Nov 30–Dec 11. This Conference is said to be one of the turning point after Kyoto protocol.

Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) has submitted nine points YOUTH DECLARATION: Nepalese Youth Voice to the Embassy of France in Kathmandu, Nepal on 30th November. This declaration letter was submitted to Mr. Pierre Mattot, the counselor of Embassy of France by the Network coordinator, Mr. Pradeep Bhattaraiof NYCA.Similarly, on 1st December, same declaration was submitted to Hon. Mr. BishwendraPaswan,Minister,Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

The declaration highlighted the demand of today’s Nepalese youth to take bold stand to bring socially acceptable legally binding agreement and to limit average global temperature to 1.5◦c rather than 2◦c because Nepal being one of the sensitive nations towards Climate changes. With increase in 2◦c temperature, disaster like GLOF (Glacier Lake Outburst Flood) may occur rapidly.

The declaration letter was submitted as a part of one month long event “Powering up For Paris”, organized by Nepalese Youth for Climate Action together with Plan International Nepal and Clean Energy Nepal.
